What a Great Day

Jab

Today I got my first dose of the COVID vaccine. I am thankful for this privilege and that I was able to do this while living in England. It took a bit of paper work, waiting and figuring out the system. Once on the right track everyone was very helpful. The folks at the GP office where we had to register explained the paperwork, the couple of people I spoke to on the COVID hotline all had great advice and let me know what would happen next. I checked daily for a few weeks online to see if our health numbers were activated and when they were I was able to book the vaccine 4 days later.

I have been so happy since booking the appointment, I woke with the knowledge, at the forefront of my thoughts this morning, that today was the day and couldn't wait for my appointment time. A quick bike ride and I was in the queue. The volunteers were all so very lovely and chatting with others in line was so nice, some there for their second shot. When I made it to the front of the line waiting to be told which station to go to for my jab I spoke with the Steward and told her I couldn't tell if I was excited or nervous, she assured me it was both. I was directed to the cubicle and the nurses, three of them, were all fantastic. They explained everything about the vaccine in detail and I had the needle in my arm, barely feeling it and done with great efficiency. One of the volunteers was saying that they vaccinate 7 people every five minutes on average at this site. What an amazing thing that we are all experiencing. We're on the path to hugging, visiting, and putting our lives back to our new normal. I don't say normal because I don't think we will go fully back to the way things were.

Looking forward to that next jab.

Take care and stay safe

Cheers!
